Pharmacy and distribution specialist Sigma Healthcare has appointed Vaughan Constructions to build its 15,000 sqm Canning Vale distribution centre. The $19 million development at 10 Craft Street, Canning Vale, will be fully equipped with advanced material handling systems to significantly improve Sigma’s capacity to fill orders and efficiently distribute supplies to WA pharmacies, hospitals and other care providers.
Sigma Chief Executive Mark Hooper said the warehouse project was part of a significant investment for the pharmaceutical company, which is upgrading its national distribution network. The group, which owns the Amcal, Guardian, PharmaSave, Chemist King and Discount Drug Stores brands, serves more than 4000 pharmacies with 15,000-plus products.
“This will service pharmacies across the State as far north as Kununurra and as far south as Esperance – and everywhere in between,” Mr Hooper said of the centre.
Vaughan Constructions managing director Andrew Noble said the design and construct project, to be finished by mid-next year, would generate 100 jobs. The first sod will be turned on the project tomorrow.
